Griffin Happenings

Griffin Happenings

There is lots going on in our community, and we thought we’d share a few upcoming events with you! One of these is the ‘Touch a Truck’ event. Griffin’s service men and women will be out with their vehicles, allowing your children the opportunity to check them out up close.

What kid doesn’t like to get up close and personal with a police car or fire truck?! The event is open to the public, and it’s a great opportunity to get to know and thank our service members for all they do to keep our community a great place to live!

Join Us at the Annual Great Griffin Mayfling!

The Annual Great Griffin Mayfling Arts and Crafts Festival, held the last weekend in April, is sponsored by the Griffin/Spalding Chamber of Commerce. The event attracts a variety of quality artists and craftsmen to display and sell their goods in the shady surroundings of Griffin’s City Park.

Top local entertainment is ongoing during this two-day event. Local clubs and organizations also take advantage of the festival to raise funds for charitable community projects. It’s an event for everyone—children can enjoy games and activities while friends and families enjoy great food in a relaxed atmosphere.

New Attractions This Year:

  • Amateur Dog Competition: Bring your leashed pooches! Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories.
  • Youth Singing Competition:
    • 5th-8th Grade: Saturday at 10:30 am
    • 9th-12th Grade: Saturday at 2:30 pm
  • Griffin Lions Club “Strides for Sight” 5K Race: Starts at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 25th. A portion of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

We believe that being involved in the community makes it a better place to live. Make a difference and show some community support! If you aren’t a local of Griffin, we would still love to have you enjoy the fun with us! 🙂
